Duration

Your lyrics should be long enough to fill a full 3 minutes worth of music. If don't have enough words, your song may end up being extremely short.
Fluidity
--------
The words should flow relatively smoothly or it just won't sound right. Image doing Kareoke without the prompter (people make up words and tear up the song).
Sing the song yourself to different music or ask a friend to sing it for you so that you can hear how the words flow together.
Rhymes
----------
Rhyming is always a good thing. Enough said.
Profanity
----------
I don't give a shit if you want to use profanity or not. If you're going to serenade your woman with the recording then I'd advise against it.
Chorus
--------
Insert [ chorus ] in between blocks where you'd like the chorus repeated. Be sure to indicate which block is the chorus as well.
